About the event
Theiyā Arts welcomes award-winning Kathak artist Meghranjani Medhi to Edinburgh for a live performance at North Edinburgh Arts. This performance offers audiences an opportunity to encounter the depth and range of the form through the work of an artist with extensive classical training and international performance portfolio.
Meghranjani began learning Kathak at the age of three under her mother and guru, renowned Kathak exponent Marami Medhi. She later trained under the late Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. She has been awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, making her the first artist from North-East India to receive the award in the field of Kathak. She has performed across India and internationally, including in the UK, United States, Canada, Egypt, Palestine, the UAE, New Zealand, China and Bangladesh.
