Explore the rhythmic world of tihai in this practical Kathak workshop led by Patrick Smith as part of the Theiya Connect Programme.

A tihai is a rhythmic phrase repeated three times to arrive on the first beat of the rhythmic cycle. During the workshop, Patrick will introduce how tihais are structured and guide participants through applying them to Kathak footwork and movement.

The session is designed for beginners who already have foundational knowledge of Kathak. Participants should be familiar with basic footwork, posture and simple rhythmic patterns.

Patrick is an emerging Kathak artist based in Edinburgh and teaches Theiya Arts’ Kathak Beginner classes.
